Who is Sanité Bélair?
Sanité Bélair (1781-1802) was a key figure in the Haitian Revolution. A lieutenant in Toussaint Louverture's army, she fought courageously against Napoleon's forces. Captured and sentenced to death, she refused to be beheaded and chose to die by firing squad, standing beside her husband, like a true fighter.
