They didn't "just wear green"!

Or Celtic knotwork...  Or shamrocks...  Or any of that crap.

Now available as a stunning, glossy-paged print book.

Since the publication of Mairead Dunlevy’s work on Irish dress in the 1980s, much has been written about the clothing of 16th century Ireland. But for people who wear reproductions of Renaissance Irish clothing at historic sites, reenactments, Renaissance Faires, Shakespearean plays, Western Martial Arts, and living history events, this body of knowledge is lacking one essential piece — a simple guide on how to get dressed.  What pieces are essential to be dressed properly?  What garments can be omitted for reasons of comfort without compromising the accuracy of the outfit?  Where is the line between costume and clothing?

Reconstructing History’s 16th century Irish Women's Getting Dressed Guide is meant to fill that void.

This 76-page guide, written by clothing historian Kass McGann and backed by 30 years of research, will tell you everything you need to know to dress historically accurately as an Irish Woman from 1540s through 1620s Ireland.

The Getting Dressed Guides are not intended to be books of all knowledge.  In these pages you will not find debates about the construction of doublets or what sheep breeds were in use. You will simply find a list of garments commonly worn by Irishwomen in the 1540s through 1620s and the manner in which they were worn.  General fabric types and other pertinent information is included, but more detail than this is outside the scope of this Guide.  In other words, the Getting Dressed Guides are guides to teach you how to get dressed for this period and location.  “Everything you need to know to get dressed.”

If you find a garment listed in a Getting Dressed Guide, you can be sure it was worn in the period covered. If you do not find a garment listed in these pages, that only means it was not common enough for us to include.

Aesthetic & Functional
Size: Left Facing
Good use of vertical space. It feels very secure and sturdy once mounted. It comes with everything you need, there’s a label for every spice and variation of that spice you can think of (different labels for the same spice but whole vs ground) and plenty of jars, with a few extra. Very well thought out. The tops were also standard enough to fit some of my existing spice jars so I didn’t even need to transfer those ones I just swapped lids and/or added a label. I previously had a different pull out spice rack with two flat shelves but it was a pain to find a specific spice without moving some out of the way, and it held maybe half as many jars as this one. This is an easy organization project that will free up a ton of horizontal cabinet space and makes finding spices while cooking significantly easier. If you do want to use your existing jars, make sure they have a flat side, as cylinder shaped jars roll around a bit when you slide it out. I just transferred my spices with round jars into the provided jars so wasn’t an issue for me! Really great value, especially considering how much the kit comes with!

Spicy racks
Item Package Quantity: 2, Item Package Quantity: 2
I bought these as I needed to organize my spice cabinet. I was using a lazy Suzanne and the spices kept falling off them. These fit perfectly in the cabinet,I attached them using the command Velcro stickers that come off easy. I am in an apartment. They are strong enough to allow the shelves to slide out.

Great product
Item Package Quantity: 2
Fit perfectly in my cabinet and gives me the room and accessibility I was looking for. Being 5'4 and needing a step stool to reach my spices above the microwave was pretty annoying. They are solid, quality racks. Very easy to assemble and adheres well to the cabinet.

Great Quality, but Check Cabinet Height Carefully
Item Package Quantity: 2
I am so, so sad these iSpecle Pull Out Spice Racks did not fit in my kitchen cabinets. I thought I had checked, but the most my cabinets can take with the nonadjustable shelves is 9", and these are a little over 9.5" tall at the metal rack side. They may not fit where I intended to use them, but they appear to be good quality and really help with organization. They look nice and slide in and out well, so I fully intend to find another way to use them. Maybe under the bathroom sink where smaller items also like to cluster.
